How to make this image effect? I don't know what this effect is called. I prepared everything. I created the shape and I googled the same image and adjusted and prepared everything. But when I tried to mask the image I can't see the head part of it like the image effect I am trying to replicate. Any help from the gurus and some sort of tutorial is really helpful to each and everyone here. Thank you!

PS: I am also attaching the Layered PSD :

This is the effect I am trying to replicate

Just add his head's selection to the layer mask. Use the original BG color. And brighten the image with a clipped Curves layer if needed.

This is how I selected his hair.

I first used the Rectangular Marquis Tool to make a selection of his head.
I then copied his head to it's own layer via Cmd/Cntrl + J
Turn off all other layers.

Using an Alpha Channel selection process, I then selected and copied the Green Channel.
I used levels to create as much black and white contrast as possible.
I then used the Dodge and Burn Tools around the hairs details.
Finally I used the Brush Tool.

You have to have a complete black and white layer to use as the selection.

Once done, I used this to make the selection that I added to the layer mask.
