How to paint a 3d model in photoshop

I think those layers need to be part of the model, but they shouldn't be necessary for the painting aspect. You can just save a merged version of the model for painting. Sure, you can upload it to a post.............if it's too large, post a link to an online file host.

How to paint a 3d model in photoshop

Yet another technique can be by using Hue & Saturation layers set to colorize and clipped to a template layer set to "Overlay". This clipping method can also be used with a Solid Color Fill Adjustment layer.

How to paint a 3d model in photoshop

In your sample image of the layers panel, you seem to have several aspects of the render in their own layers and converted to smart objects. Creating shadows for flat objects

    Creating shadows for flat objects

My first observation is that the layers are out of order. They should appear like this.... This explains why the Black layer was set to Multiply and I would lower it's opacity. It also allows for the shadowing of the right paper sheet.

How do I achieve this effect in photoshop

Well................this would be a challenging effect to create from scratch requiring multiple steps. Maybe for a more advanced user. The simplest way would be to just place the watered cardboard image/layer over the dry cardboard image/layer, and set it's blend mode to "Darken". It's not an...

How do I write the file-name of an image on the image itself?

Create a new layer. Select the Type Tool. Select the font, font size, and font color. Click on the canvas where you want the filename to be. Type out the filename. You can reposition with the Move Tool if needed. Save as a jpg.
