Aaaah, from the lighting to the shading to the shadows to the subtle reflection on the surface, that looks very good indeed Patrick. You've really progressed well in this arena. :} The main ball reflection looks ok too. You obviously took its shape from something specific, no? Something you...

    How do they do this...

Yeah actually i didn't think of it either til i thought about how to post 6 images to one thread. haha :D Being as they're very basic i could use a 16 colour palette whcih helped the file size for such a large image.

    Creating a Starburst Vector Shape.

You could probably find this specific shape in some collection out here somewhere... but why not create it yourself from scratch? It'll give you a chance to flex some creative muscle AND brush you up on your Pen tool skills a little too. ;) => If you have any questions/comments about this...

    How do they do this...

Easy peasy actually. :) {EDIT} CRAP! Welles snuck in here while i was writing a tute for this. hehe Oh well now you have 2 options. Although in the tute i show how to taper the inside end of the shape to create a proper starburst effect. :D {/EDIT} I've written this up as a mini-tute over in...

Here's that example i mentioned Patrick. Left top image shows without the "base shadow" i spoke of. Right top image shows with the base shadow; circle in red in the bottom image. See the difference? Notice how it makes the image look more 'anchored' to the surface? That's what its function is...

The eyeball Patrick is tough to follow up with because it already has reflections that look just fine. Covering the pupil is harder because the image is so large. You really need to hit the nail on the head using an image that large if you're going to fool the viewer's eye. I think it looks...

Aaah cool eyeball. I like that. The first thing that hits me is the reflection around the white of the eye is good, the pupil though is much too detailed and clear. Only in a few specific situations would a reflection completely cover the object's natural details. I'm gonna play with your...

Ok be my guest ron, give 'em a study and see what you can do. :righton: Most of these images/effects are not real complex. Especially the 3D interface stuff. Those didn't take long to make. Just long to think through. Don't overthink the creation process. In case you're wondering too ron... the...

Final question... Here's a couple more examples. These though i'm wondering if they have any features that you'd find useful for your purposes? i.e. do these have the type of 'look' that you're after?
