Any help appreciated! How can I create this kind of image of a picture I have of a face. I have tried the PS threshold tool but it turns the background to black (with white) & I need the color combo to be light blue and white as seen in the attached images.

Are you removing the background from the photo and just leaving the head?

First off, these are not vector. You are using the wrong terminology. Secondly, you avoided my question in post #2. Third, I know exactly what your asking about, there's no need for added instruction and bold type. Please read responses carefully. Thanks.

All you need to do is to remove the background on the Peter Wolf photo and then apply the threshold tool.


Make a selection of the black area using Color Range.


Create a new Color Fill Adjustment layer above the image layer and add the selection to it's layer mask.
Adjust the color to your liking.

The rest is about how you set up the background.

Example 1 with white face.


Example 2 without white face (turn threshold layer off)


Background is nothing more than two more Color fill adjustment layers below the image layer, white over blue with a gradient added to the white layers-layer mask.
