50's Photo Effect

Can anyone recommend a technique for converting a photograph into a 50's style B/W colored photo? [saywhat]

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 50's style b/w, have any samples?

I suppose you mean either handcoloured or washed out.

For hand colouring, you first set to greyscale (I use Channel Mixer for that). Then you take your brush and set to Color blend mode, and hup you go. You can paint on a different layer if you prefer.

Washed out is done with curves.
