A problem with Photoshop

Hi everyone.
I am new to this site having only just joined, but I have been using Photoshop for 3 or 4 years now. I use it to edit my digital photos and have had no problems so far.
That is until a couple of weeks ago. The problem is that when ever I use a couple of the tools, namely the Crop Tool and adding text, Photoshop freezes up and becomes
unresponsive. The only way I can get out of it is to switch off the Pc altogether.
Any help or advice in resolving the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

Hi @francisg
Very frustrating experience and many of us have been there. Could be a variety of causes for this.
In brief here are a few things to try
- Make sure you have all updates to Photoshop and you OS installed
- Make sure you have all software updates for your graphics card installed
- Totally restart you computer and reset preferences when opening up Photoshop

Here is a link to a more complete list of things to try from Adobe: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html

Hope these are helpful
