I am trying to colour a black and white movie on Photoshop using a Kinemacolor process, if you don't know what Kinemacolor is, read the Wikipedia article. When I try to keep the channel on 'Red' or 'Green', it just disaperes and goes back to normal toned.

Also, does anyone here know of a good way to re-create the extremely saturated, color filter, old fashioned look?

ok top 1 is a duplicated picture top layer image> adjustment> desaturate apply a layer mask and paint in the red and green from original image
bottom 2 is a colour overlay use an adjustment layer and select solid colour choose the colour and set the layer blending mode to either of the darken multiply or hard light etc etc until you like it if it is to strong then reduce the opacity of the layer
