Choker using Photoshop

I was wondering if I can add a choker to an image to help cut out some unwanted color from around an image. crude I know but I like the way I can add a choker in after effects and want to try and do it using photoshop. anything similar?

Im not even sure ive ever heard the term choker... Do you have an example of what you trying to do?

"Simple Choker effect shrinks or expands the edges of a matte in small increments to create a cleaner matte." Basically, i need help cleaning up the edges of an image that i cut out of an existing image so that when I place it against another background I get a cleaner look.

You can also try Layer|Matting from pull down Layer menu.
