Create a reflection of 'shaky' light and further improve quality of 'superimposing'

Hi there, I have 2 problems that I'm trying to solve. Grateful for all suggestions.
1) on the attached, how do I produce the effect of the shaky light on the brick floor that can be seen on the 2 lights in background behind the swimming pool (tried shadow effects option)
2) the fire on the left hand side (in front) still looks too superimposed, even though I've tried some of the things I was advised to do on a similar post (adjust vibrance mid tones, use burn tool etc).

Grateful for any guidance on either of these problems. Many thanks in advance.

Hi spudsnruf.

Here is what I think:

Your fireplace is lit all wrong. The sides that should have a slight glow from having the light shimmer off are solid grey. The side facing away from the fire is lighter than the sides and should be in shadow. It doesn't seem like there is any light source in front of it. The shadow is going in the wrong direction by a bit. See the closest lounge chair. It should have some of that shadow start from the leftmost edge to ground it better. Also, it looks kind of lonely sitting where it is. Just seems out of position.

As for you second question, the best way to reproduce that effect, that I know of, is to use a displacement map, using of course a brick surface for the displacement.

Thanks you very much. The guidance on the fire definitely helped. Its not perfect yet, but its certainly better. Displacement maps are brand new to me, but there seems to be a lot of videos on them, and it does look like thats what I need, although i've no idea yet how to end up where I need...time for some experimenting. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.

your 1 problem is you only have 1 shadow.
you should have the shadow from the 2 lights plus from the fire.
im guessing that from a 3d app.
you should setup the light in the 3d app like it appears in the image.

This is the new member introductions section! lol

The top metal beams from the balkony looks like spiderweb, they can be darkened.....

I think if you make this image more like a "scary movie" style it would make it stand out.
just me saying :P

Dreamers.....

That's funny Dreamers. I never even noticed, lol. I think that's where he posted his original thread.

Next time spudsnruf, unless you would like it moved now. I will move it for you.

Yes, the fire itself was originally created on a 3d app, but not by me, (far more advanced than my very limited abilities). I will try to experiment with your points. It is getting a bit better already (from the previous replies). Thanks to everyone in the meantime. ( noted that I originally posted in wrong section too. sorry)
