Create a shadowed button coming out of page

Hi, bit of a noobie been using photoshop a bit and have something I want to create but not sure how to.

I want to have a shadow effect hole in a white page and then put a button within the whole. To make it look like a webpage has a hole in it, that then has a button in it.

Any ideas would be welcome, i can draw a sketch if that helps.

do you mean something like this

for this I used the elliptical marquee tool
step 1 create new layer
step 2 create button shape with marquee tool
step 3 use paintbucket tool to fill in a dark colour (possibly lower layer opacity)
step 4 in layer blending option add a drop shadow
Step 5 repeat steps 1 to 4 but with the button colour
