Today is Friday the 13th - always a lucky kind of day for me. Also a full moon - the last full moon Friday the 13th until 2049.

Yes, I am superstitious. In fact, I am probably the most superstitious person you'll ever meet.

Friday the 13th doesn't bother me, I spill salt with abandon, and I own two black cats. I don't walk under ladders, but that's not because of superstition - I just don't want the paint bucket or hammer or whatever is on the top of the ladder to end up on my head.

BUT..... I won't kill a spider, break a mirror or mess around with Ouija boards. I won't celebrate good fortune until it has actually happens so as not to jinx it. I don't whistle or open umbrellas in the house. Those things just seem like tempting fate to me. I wear a St. Francis medal when one of my animals is sick and a St. Christopher medal when I travel. I believe that deaths happen in threes. I believe that there is something to astrology and that there is more on heaven and earth than meets the eye.

What's more, I honestly do not care who thinks my rituals are silly. Everyone is entitled to their own road to perdition and I will keep doing what I'm doing. :)

Are you superstitious? What are yours?

I have no superstitions at all.....zero. However, it doesn't bother me at all that others do have them.

Yeah we had a wicked run with the old moon this week three nights now big as clares arse and as white:bustagut:

Oh man, I got out of my hot tub around midnight last night, got on my comfy heavy chenille robe and went back out the yard to sit and gaze. LOL.

There were clouds passing by, three depths of grey. The lightest, it could continue its shine almost as bright. When the darker clouds passed by, it looked like an eclipse, a beautiful glowing grey. When the very darkest obstructed most of its light, the glow around them remained (since they didn't cover a great area), sometimes I could still follow the progress, that's how strong the light was, and she would break through now and then. I wished I had a video camera.

What a great 15 minutes that was, the dogs circling around and the cats all hanging out basking. I gotta say this, it confirmed my faith in a higher power. It's light is always shining brightly on us. Even when it doesn't show as well, it's there. I counted my blessings. (and I don't care much for the over rated word, "gratitude." But that's just me)

I live by superstition, though I cal it religion! Always carry a big old silver dollar when I think of it. Do feng shui stuff in my home and outside it. Make spells for the good times and jinx the assholes that threaten my cats, making move-away concoctions, and hanging mirrors and hanging windchimes and amulets for protection. A couple witchy ceremonies for protection have at least helped me feel better.

Worked twice already with people down the block who have tried to hurt them, though the jerks who rent next door are resistant to my move-away spells, lol. However, they have held their noisy, drunken parties to a minimum for the last year. I considered calling the cops on them more than once. Mostly, it's pretty peaceful. Today is father's day here and they have started, but the adults aren't fully drunk yet, so the kids aren't trying to drown out their obscenities quite yet with their raucous play and shouting. But it will get there. Fortunately, my windows are double insulated . . .
