Frustrated ... still ...

Has anyone found a way within Photoshop preferences (if checked? or unchecked?), will stop the Clone Stamp Tool from switching from not aligned to aligned sources until it is desired?
Even when all of the latest updates, it still switches back and forth unannounced.

Hey Gary! While I am using an older version of Ps (20.0.8), no matter how hard I try, I can't reproduce your problem unless I double click/tap while making a source selection. With no double click/tap, when I uncheck align, it stay's until I change it. According to what I've found, it should work as described, if not, the only suggestion I read about was resetting the tool.

Not much has changed for me since your ORIGINAL thread on this matter.

Note: I'm not understanding why it would go "back and forth"!!! I can never get it to do that! It only re-checks the "align" box if I have unchecked it with the double click/tap............it never goes back and forth!

I am going to pay more attention to the 'checking/unchecking'. As stated, it may be due to double clicking by an older pen
with poor pressure control that I have since replaced.
