Help with HDR

in simple context, High Dynamic Range (HDR) basically allows you to better represent the image's lighting, in certain situations, or give the image more detail. so if you have a low contrast image (low colour quality) with some HDR toning you can give it more colour and detail

true HDR features a mixture of 3 or more exposures of the same image for example you set your camera up if it is a DSLR you enable auto bracketing where when you take the picture it will actually take 3 images 1 with correct exposure, 1 with an underexposed normally by 1 or 2 stops and the 3rd over exposed also by 1 or 2 stops. You can use photo editing software like photoshop or HDR effex pro and load up the 3 images and blend them to make 1. the lighting from different exposures can all be edited so you can choose which 1 suits best and layer it up. However you can use a photoshop plugin that will attempt to recreate this from 1 image but will never be as good as 3 raw images merged together.
