I'm starting to make web graphics but I want really cool looking borders around my graphics like these below:

I really like the jagged looking border that graphic has. Having a hard time where to begin with it.
Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to PSG.

This is mainly clipping masks and layer styles (drop shadow and outer glow)

There are many ways to create the jagged border.
Here I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create this one.

Then I added a layer style with a drop shadow.

On a layer above the Jagged border, import your scenery.

Next you will use a clipping mask to add the scenery within the jagged border.
You can right click the scenery layer and choose 'add clipping mask'.

Create a new layer and place it at the very bottom.
Fill this layer with white.
This will help you to visualize the drop shadow, you can turn it off later if you desire a transparent BG.

Next, you will import your super cute subject and place them on the very top of the layer stack.
You will of course have to remove the subject from their BG. I'm hoping you know how this is done.
I have done a poor job of this as I'm only worried about the demo and speed, not the quality.
Create a clipping mask for this layer as well

Next you will have to open a layer style for this layer and add an outer glow, change the color to black, and the blending mode to normal.
Mess with other adjustments until they're were you like them.
This will add the glowing black border around your subject.

That should do it. Add a new layer on top and create the text.
You should know how to do that!

I just noticed that the jagged border also has a black colored outer glow.
Just follow the steps above and add an outer glow along with the drop shadow in the layer style of the Jagged Border layer.
