How do I zoom in? ctrl + scroll doesn't work

I'm just trying to zoom in, I know I can change the zoom in the bottom left hand corner but I can't see how to quickly zoom in and out...?

Rolling your mouse wheel would do it if your mouse has one, and also "Ctrl -" or "Ctrl =" will do it.

you need to go to edit > preferences > General and check the use mouse wheel for zoom first to use your mouse. very handy I cant live without it now

You can zoom without checking "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" (matter of taste, i use scroll to get around image) by presing ALT+mouse wheel.
Or presing CTRL+space+mouse click to zoom in and CTRL+ALT+space+mouse click to zoom out (i love those).
