How to make 3D text?

Try this:

Rasterize your text layer. Select Inner Bevel in the layer style palette. Set 'soften' to 0 px. Select smudge tool. Set 'Strength' to 100%. Check 'Use All Layers'. Make the brush big enough to cover your text. Hide all other layers and smudge away!
Use 'stroke path' to get it nice and smooth.
