Polygonal Lasso Failure

I use the polygonal lasso for most of my selections. Lately it has been failing...in other words, I am clicking, extending the line, when all of a sudden, the line becomes inactive...the cursor isn't connected to the selection line and it floats free as I move it around. I have tried restarting PS to no avail. This is the only glitch of any kind that I have had in using PS since 5.5. Has anyone else had this?

Have you tried resetting PS Tools


Failing that you could try resetting PS preferences, depending on the version you have you can either


Or the old school way
To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
