Hi, every now and then, i will get a 1 pixel wide black line on the edge of some part sof an image when i am viwing the whole image. (Cropped close up below)

but when i zoom in they disapear... they ar phantoms, and dont exist in the file only on screen.

does anyone else get these.

regards, Sandy

Hi @nurgle
1) Do you ever see the phantom black lines when you are viewing at 100% magnification?
2) Do the black lines disappear if you stamp your Layer Stack to a single Layer?
If the black lines go away in the above situations, there is a good chance this has to do with what is in your specific Layers or Layer masks.
When working with PS Layers at non-100 % viewing, PS takes some computational shortcuts for performance reasons. The initial computations are done based on the merged pixels at reduced magnifications, not the full set of pixels.
From what I could find, this is not well publicized, yet it does lead to all sorts of anomalies, including stray lines, etc.
If the cases mentioned above make the issue go away, and you want more specifics on the cause of the anomalies in your image, sharing your PSD file (or a portion of the PSD that still causes the issue) could be examined in more detail to get to its specific root cause of the problem.
Hope this helps

Hi,

I am using large files 200mb to 1.5gig.. as I have poster printers.
only appear when i view the whole image.
disappear at any other magnification...
also i do not see them on ever file I am working on. only one if a hundred...
just one of the oddities I see.
files are too lartge to email.

as i have been seeing them for some time and know they are phantom it does not bother me. i jus wondered if anyone else see them also.

regards, Sandy

The short answer is yes, I do. If they go away when viewing at 100% or stamping, then they are very likely just phantoms, and I would not worry about it unless it shows up in your final product.
