recording and exporting animation

I made an action that erases a layer image using the eraser tool brush. I could also do this by hand. How can I record this and export? I've done this exact thing before but for the life of me I can't recall how. It was recorded on the fly. Thank you kindly!

Thank you but that's not exactly what I needed. I'm not trying to save the action, I'm trying to save a "recording" of the action in progress. I ended up just doing this in AE but I know there's a quick way to do it in PS. Ugh.
