Our target in this "lesson" is: http://server2.tacf.org/examples/tdnf.jpg
If you take a look at it, it's all typesetting except the funky swirly thingy. That swirly thingy is our "real goal".
Okay, open Photoshop (sorry, I don't have paint shop pro. If PSP allows you to do custom brushes this will work though).
1. Create a new layer
2. Create a circle/oval
3. Select it (CTRL + click on the layer)
4. Select > Modify > Contract > 2, and DEL the new selection
5. Draw a rectangular marquee around it
6. Beside your Brushes Palette is a little arrow thing, click that and hit Define Brush
7. Your brush is now made, the only other thing to do is to set the "repeatability" of it. So, double-click on your brush and set the spacing to between 2-5%
8. Grab your airbrush and draw away
This technique can be coupled with others to create cool effects, 3d perspective, etc.
