Hi,
I have downloaded the newest version of PS and I am really not happy with it. When I try to create text it leaves the Lorum...etc up on the screen and does NOT show the text I am typing. I absolutely hate that. I want to be able to see my text when I am typing. Is there a way to fix this? I sure hope so!

Hi @maggie2

Photoshop puts in the placeholder text yet as soon as you start typing, the placeholder text should go away and show what your are typing. If the placeholder text goes away and you don't see the text, its a good change the text color is set to the background color or some other setting that makes it hard to see.

If you prefer to not have the placeholder text that can be changed in Preferences as per the image below:

Hope this helps

Hi John,
No, it is not that I am using the same color as the background. I have a white background and I have tried both black and red for the text and I am still having this problem. I went to the cursors tab and it does not have what yours does. So then I checked the text tab and there I found what you show here on your screen. I unclicked the Fill new type layers with placeholder text and tried that. Still having the same problem. I don't know what else to try at this point. I sure am not happy with this new beast. Hope you might have some additional ideas. Here's the screen shot of my curcor tab.

I have checked all those things and none of them are the problem. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Hi Maggie. Seems like a pretty tough problem. Other steps that could be tried are uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop to rule out something being corrupted (eg the font system)Another possibility is some system incompatibility with the present version of photishop. It is important that your system meets the minimum requirements for today’s photoshop (including graphics cards etc) as well as version of OS and as well that your present hardware is fully supported by your present hardware. The reason I bring this up is in prior posts you have had hard to debug issues which also could have been system incompatibility issues.
If you share the id you are using and computer hardware specs that could help forum members help you.
Or, maybe another forum member has a magic bullet answer of which I am not aware. I know I am out of magic billets as they were all in the list in my prior posts.

Just some thoughts...
- Show us a screen shot of your Edit>Preferences>Type dialog box
- Show us screenshot of your layers panel with the problem occurring

One additional thought - after you uncheck the "Fill new type layers with placeholder text" make sure you click <OK >at the upper right and don't just close out the dialog box...
