Can you please give a 'walk-through' of the steps you take when trying to do this?

cant change backgound color
okay. I open flash and what not and start a new document. I click on the paintbbucket tool choose my color i.e. black. and try to change the background from the default white and it wont let me do I dont have any clue as to why this is. is there a certain setting that i have to change?
