So do you guys hate the members who are trying to better their portfolio, and master their craft by doing these jobs for free?

Seems to me that you really wouldn't want these types of jobs. The client isn't looking for a professional job, they are looking for something to get the site up and running, and if it were to yield them great dividends, then they would seek your professional talents.

I just don't hold any higher thought about those who doesn't want to pay for work used in comercial contexts. That's when you hire pro's - or try to trick them...
But I never said people shouldn't do free work. If they feel it's ok by them - it's ok by me. Just don't ask me to do it...
