Any and all suggestions and critique welcome
I donīt know how to fix this, I want to learn how to make typography posters and things so Iīm experimenting, but this looks totally wrong to me, the picture is too "smokey" I think and the text doesnīt match. I tried using a paper texture underneath, but that just made it worse so I took it out.
Iīll take any help I can get.

When doing a poster or Wallpaper first start with radial gradien that gives you a focus light, then put a texture(old paper)try color burn lajer blending mode.Regarding brushes attempt to control them better(try using lajer mask removing brushes where they are not needed)maybe put some behind the model(now the model is barely seen) are you doing this by tutorial?

Ok, this is what I did first with paper texture and less "smoke", but now the text looks "naked".

Put a few examples of posters that you try to make,You can change color of text via layer style(gradinent overlay for example)and maybe change the shape of via free transform-warp

I put the text together so I could change it without doing it one by one, I warped the smoke and changed the color a bit. Is this better?
