What an Awesome forum to stumble across!

    Hi all,

Just found this place by pure accident - I Googled Photoshop Help and Google Instant prompted forum so I thought what the hell lets have a look and I arrive here!!!

Had a look around and this is exactly what I need - a place where I can learn of people who are much more proficient than I am.

So about me - Im an MMA fan and practitioner and I got into Photoshop about 2 months ago just as a way of making comedy pictures to post on facebook for my friends, some of which are professional fighters. All my pictures have revolved around movie posters, changing the title slightly and putting my friends faces on top of the actors on the poster for fun. I learnt some very basic skills off Youtube how to cut around a head then copy and paste it then resize it using the free transform button.

+What I really need help with to progress is how can I match skin tones?
+How can I say for example make their face shadows and dark on 1 side and really white bright on the other even if the original photo im using is not like that?
+Quick tips on matching Fonts and different techniques?

These are just some of the things im hoping to do and learn.

Im not sure where is the right place but I can post some of my before and after work so people get an idea of what level im at which isnt great... but hey thats why im here.

Anyways great to be on this Forum and look forward to hearing your words of wisdom on a subject and hobby iv developed a passion for.

    Thanks again

    Hi D-BLOCK

    Welcome to PhotoShop Gurus

Glad you joined our community, good luck and happy PhotoShoping.

    - For matching skin tone you can use the curves and levels adjustment layer, that will give you a pretty good result.

    - duo tone skin brightness, you could use the dodge and burn tools, also using levels whit layer masks, there's some others techniques that could be used, but those will bet the easiest ones.

    - Fonts artwork, also known as Typography, as mentioned before for every situation, there's always a way to achieve certain result.

So when the time comes, just post your question, and will be glad to help.

Thats brilliant and so helpful, I genuinely really appreciate your constructive feedback! Great to be a part of a forum where there is a common ground and common interest and no one is looking to poke fun at one another like the typical sport fan forums I frequent.

So Thanks again and great to be a part of this forum.

    Cheers

Welcome aboard, and I know exactly what you mean. Nice to be in with real people who don't take themselves so seriously.

hi!! skin is one of the first things people have problems with. My advice is stay as far away from smudge as you can. its the first thing people seem to try and it just never works. Better to master cloning, healing and dodge tools. just always look at the original photo and figure out the light situation and go from that. any questions just ask! I do freelance work for models and its not always easy!
