well, i have a friend, who thinks she's the be all and end all in photoshop and when i looked at her portfolio, it said ******** studios when it's blatantly just her and her computer, and no offence, she is kinda crap XD and it's generally digging at people. who put studios and designs after their nameswhen it doesn't need to be there and they think they are all amazing XD

FYI:
Studios: More than one person in more than one computing studio
Productions: When you produce the work you post, duuh!
Design: when the WHOLE THING is designed by hand, no images from the internet but on to a background.
Manipulations: When you get images (or brushes) from the internet, or from a camera and add it to a background image (what most of us do)
that's my idea of those words, no one has to change anything apart from me and my avatar if you all want me to.

OK so we are clear this is what you mean then I have a Hoogle Productions logo as an intro to 1 of my youtube channels and just watermarked an image saying Hoogle Designs (admittedly just to increase the size of my water mark.
Only thing I disagree with is your studio definition Walt disney Studios started as 1 man but lets not get into the idea that he stole the design of MIckey Mouse that ultimately turned disney into what it is today.
Productions can be anything but usually live shows or film related
A design is a design if done by hand or on a computer
a manipulation can be anything from as long as the product has at least 1 edit to it from original

I agree with you in part, however ambition doesn't hurt.
When GoMedia started out, they were just two guys in a bedroom, yet on their website it showed that they had offices in the US & in Africa.

When clients looked at their site, they appeared much bigger than they were - now look at their client list ;-)
