Photo Pictures

Need help, I have some important photo pictures that were printed on mat paper instead of glossy paper and I lost the negatives. I tried to scan the pictures to adobe Photoshop and tried to smooth out the grain from the mat paper that was showing, no luck. I am looking for a solution in Photoshop or even a Plug In. Can anyone help.

I don't know if it will do what you want, but NeatImage is a wonderful plugin for reducing noise generated by digital cameras. It's worth a shot for this too. Here's the URL:

I looked at the site and it looks like the plug in will help to get rid of the grain.
