    adjustment recommendations

I am fairly new to photography, and especially sports photography, but I have been getting some decent shots at our local hockey games, but they aren't quite what I really want yet.

    1. Are there any camera settings that I could try to get a better image to begin with (my camera is a Canon SX10is... not a DSLR unfortunately)

    2. What kind of photoshop adjustments could I use to make the image appear clearer, whiter, more realistic, etc?

    example below...

For descent sports photography indoors you'll need a fast shutter speed and a high ISO to capture the fast action with limited light conditions, but with cameras like yours that have a small image sensor you easily end up with noisy image and degrading colors.

What do you mean with realism, it's a photo, how much more realistic can it get?

As for a white correction; a quick levels correction should do the job just fine.
