I would love to learn how to do this

This being my first post. I am not sure this is the best place to place the thread. However I've been dying to get an answer to this question.

Is a photographers FB page. Where she posts most of her portafolio work. All her picture share a similar effect. She somehow make her character really bright and makes colors so vivid and clean.

I just want to know how its done. Would someone recognize steps she might take as she edits her pictures?
She uses a Canon 7D. I beleive. I do not know what lense.

You may want to ask about a particular photo rather than an entire collection and then post a specific question.
A very shallow DOF seems to be used in the photos I saw.
You can get this by using a large aperture aka a low f stop.

Can I just add that in the right light , and with a load of pushes of the button on a good camera, you're going to get a good shot that doesn't need much editing. It's one of the things that make a good photographer.

I have no doubt she has a really good camera. Met her once and she had a ton of lenses as well. However she does say halw of her work is done on PS.

Its amazing^ how she makes her subject so clear. So perfect. >_< I must learn.
I agree with the fact that she uses a open aperture for most of her pictures though

In these circumstances, photoshop is not used to make a bad photo good, but to make a really good photo perfect. So unless you have the quality image to start with, you are never going to see them kind of results. All you should have to do with a good image is tweak the contrast, colour and maybe slightly blur the things you don't want the eye to focus on.

Just because you don't have the image that meets your aspirations, you have to have good images to begin with. I'm going to assume that your images are good quality. One of the things you might want to consider is using HDR toning or HDR merging in Photoshop (depends what version you have). This will really pop the colors. Another thing to consider is using low light when you take the pictures, as in overcast days, slight shadow, late afternoon, etc. Bright sunlight will wash out color and detail. You probably already know this. Explore HDR and find photography in Phtoshop tutorials. There is also an excellent photographer's forum, dpreview.co for digital photo news, forums, etc.

ibclare, I found your reply very useful. I knew little about HDR, I think that's the look I’ve been trying to achieve. Thank you. Any further suggestions from anyone are more than welcome.
