Exploding 3D ball animation

This may sound weird, but I've never really used photoshop before. I'm hoping there is an easy way to do what I want to do.

I found a tutorial on how to make a 3D ball in photoshop at Creating 3D ball in Photoshop

I also found a 3d sphere coloured through random number visualization at RGL sample application 2: Excel random number visualization | California Soil Resource Lab . Is it possible to merge the two of them? Basically to create a 3D ball with completely random colours.

The end result I want it a 3D animation, starting with the 3D ball from that first link that explodes into the thousands of mini random coloured balls in the second link. Is that possible?

I am learning modeling and animation using Blender 3D. For a learning practice I have uploaded a file of something I am making.

I have made a ball and chain in 3D now I want to make it swing like a pendulum using an armature. Does anyone know I could do this?
