Gradient from image: is there a plugin for this?

I was wondering if there is some kind of plugin for PS that can load the colours of an image as a gradient?
I can do it in another app, but then I need to make a screenshot, paste etc.
So I was wondering if there wasn't a simpler method.

To do it in PS itself is a bit clumsy (or do I overlook something?):

    1/ Open the image
2/ make a Swatch from it (Indexed colour to Color Table mode, then Save as .act file, go back to RGB, load swatch dropdown to include .act files)
3/ Open Gradient Editor, dig down to User Colour and use the eyedropper, then save

Not an automatic app, but very handy indeed.
(I installed the complete pack of utilities he offers... )

    thanks

btw: a free html to PDF conversion utility (Windows only, or OSX should be capable of handling "real" UNIX). At the plugin site, they state it is not limited, and that it works fine. enjoy!)
