How did they do this??

I really want to learn how to change the hair to these specific colours and how they look so natural! Please if anyone could give me some info or advice that would be great!

All i do at the moment is: (and it looks terrible!)
1) Create new layer
2) Select brush and colour i want
3) Paint it over the area of the hair i want
4) Change from 'Normal' to 'Colour'

I dont think her hair is photoshoped dude. She looks like one of then I guess there called punk or watever, So they do weird stuff like that.

Try to make the brush layer to Soft Light and then lower the opacity, then copy that layer and set it to color and once more lower the opacity. Then make soft around the edges. But as above, I don't think it's ps'ed
