Taper one end lof a line

After I have drawn a line with either a pen or brush I want to taper the end of it to nothing.
I have worked out how to taper both ends, but I only want to taper one.
Does anyone know how I can do this?

copy the end work on it as new layer then merge back just an idea

Use the brush engine and set the shape dynamics to fade. Adjust as needed.
