remove a white edge around the cut out image
i have selected an image and created a mask to remove the white background.
So the image of the woman is on a transparent background. i have a problem is there is stil some white renains just on the edges of the image.I have tried to use a burn tool set to highlight at 50 percent opacty this method seemed a little clumsy as some of the jacket was being selected to .
plase can any one help.

I used the magic wand tool to select the image. I then used a mask on the white shirt to make a more accurate selection. I used expand and contract on the pixels edge. To make a closer selection. with a feather of 1 pixel.
The redefine feature i will try that. ok as i dont want to damage the hair. what a good accurate selection.

Refine Edge is on the top of the screen whenever a selection tool is selected.
Hansolo, as far as making selections around hair, KRF posted a video than should help you here:

Also to get rid of that Halo, try not to use any feathering, that's where the Halo effect is coming from imho...
