Help Needed!

Hello,

I'm new to both here and photoshop. I'm trying to create an effect such as this one:



(Where the cat is blurred into the background)

Does anyone know how to go about this?

That's easy, just play around with the levels. Press Ctrl L (or Command L for Apple) to adjust the levels.

I would go for apply a layer mask to the cat layer and using a soft edged brush paint in black around the edges on the mask.

After cutting out your subject used the blur tool on the edges at a levels that you're after there are many ways to get the same result
