Help with B&W/lighting from A Hard Day's Night cover?

Hello!
I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to make a picture look like the "A Hard Day's Night" movie poster/album cover faces? I'd embed the image here, but this is my first post, so it won't let me.

I'm figuring lighting during the picture setup would make it easier, but if I wanted to use a picture with no directional shadows, how would I do that? Thank you!
