Frustrating Problem
Hey Guys,
There is this problem i have been having, i hope someone can solve it or explain whats going on.
I am running Photoshop CS5.1 Windows 7
Here's my problem...
I want to make a pattern, so I open a new file set at 8 by 8 pixels. i unlock the layer and select the image(white background), then I press delete. The image stays white but the layer under the right menu shows the "Transparent Checkered background", and on top of that my 1 pixel square brush is now deformed and is round at the bottom. This has started happening ever since i reformatted my laptop and Re-installed Photoshop.
Does anyone know whats happening or if there is a problem? i have tried re-installing, resetting my preference files... I cant seem to get to back to what it was!
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Frustrating Problem
Not sure if I can help, but hang in there; the real gurus are around somewhere
As far as the image staying white is concerned, it sounds like you have somehow set or selected the inverse, because that's what is happening, you are deleting the inverse of what you want. IDK why this would happen ... nor do I know how to help with this or the brushes if you have already reset your preferences. That is the only solution I can think of. Maybe someone else will have the answer.
I'm sorry if you are experienced beyond the following but since I don't know that, here are the proper steps to reset.
From iDad (via Steve via the Creator):
How to reset Photoshop preferences:
First, hold down all three Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons; On a Mac, hold Command+Option+Shift
Now "while keeping those button held," simply open Photoshop or a file that opens with Photoshop
As Photoshop loads, you should get a prompt asking if you would like to "delete the Photoshop settings file", Click yes
You should now have a fresh slate with all of the settings returned to their default.

Re: Frustrating Problem
Make sure you have the most current Video card driver.
If you're up to date try turning off (un-check) Enable OpenGL Drawing if it's set to on.
Ctrl+K to get to Preferences then Performance|GPU Settings

May I ask what OpenGL drawing is? just for my own curiosity.

Re: Frustrating Problem
LOL, Steve will be fine.
OpenGL enable things like Flick-panning and Rotate (R) and much, much more.
