    animate shrinking an object

    Hi

I would like to know the best way to animate an object shrinking. Do I have to make multiple duplicates of the same object, and resize each of the layers accordingly to each of their frames?

    Thanks for any assistance.

That's the way to do it. Depending on how smooth you want the animation to be, try sizing down or up the object by 10% in each layer.

Quickest way is to set up an action to copy the object to a new layer (ctrl+J) and then use transform and set size reduction on the top toobar to maybe 90%. Each time you run the action the object will transform to 90% of the previous layer. Run it until you get the final size you want, then use each layer as a separate frame.

So i guess there is NO shortcut way to doing it huh?

lol. I was using tween (which I eventually realized didn't work).

    Thanks though.

It's not that much work if you are not moving the object and just shrinking it. Set up the action I suggested and make all the layers. Leave all the layers on. Each time you add a new frame turn just off the lowest layer, which exposes the layer above it successively.

or open up the image in after effects under scale properties set a key frame at 100% move timeline to the desired time ie 10 seconds set the scale down to 1% or whatever you want the final size to be then save the video as a gif if you have cs4 or below or export as a quicktime movie and import the video into photoshop via file>insert videoframes as layers and then save for web device should take no longer than a miniute.
