Photoshop not working

Hello! I have CS and am using Windows XP. I am also using Spyware Doctor virus protection. When I open it up, it comes up and then automatically closes. Can someone give me some advise on how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hi coop105 and welcome to PSG.

If you haven't done it yet, turn off, and then turn on your computer.
Don't just restart it, actually shut it off.

If that doesn't help, and it probably won't, you may have a corrupt Photoshop preferences file.
