Photoshop CS 2
Having problems with CS 2. I'm running windows 7 and XP, (2 computers). Recently after shooting RAW with Canon 30D and G9, I cannot open the raw files.
The message I get for example is... IMG_0010 CR2
"Could not complete your request because it is the wrong kind of file".
Never had this problem before. Hope I can get some advise.
Thanks, JOhn

Re: Photoshop CS 2
Were you able to open raw files from these cameras in CS2 previously?
I assume yes.
Run update and make sure you have the most current Raw converter installed.
Can you view the file in Bridge?

Re: Photoshop CS 2
When I bought CS2, I was running XP, everything worked fine. When I switched to Vista and 7, it continued to work fine. All of a sudden it would not open a RAW file. Installed and reinstalled 3-4 times no luck. Went out and bought a second computer with XP. All seems to run fine but will still not open RAW.
Thank for your reply been a little busy with brand new granddaughter!

Re: Photoshop CS 2
Again, run update and make sure you have the most current raw converter.
Every time you reinstall your installing an earlier version which may not be compatible with CR2 file.

Re: Photoshop CS 2
Okay...officially frustrated. Have found the DNG file. When I go to run it (zip file) I immediately get this add to purchase :winzip". Is this for real? Is there something free I can get to run the zip files? Grateful for all the assistance.

Re: Photoshop CS 2
OK John, this is my last try.
As I said twice before.
...... run update and make sure you have the most current raw converter.
Every time you reinstall your installing an earlier version which may not be compatible with CR2 file.
Have you done that yet?
Now what's this about a DNG file?
You were talking about CR2 files, not DNG files.
A DNG is a Digital Negative file it opens with the Raw converter in Photoshop not Winzip.
As for Zip files, Windows computers don't need Winzip to open a Zip file you can open a Zip file in Windows Explorer.

Re: Photoshop CS 2
Hey Steve, Got it figured out now. I had to download a software pack from Adobe. It's a stand alone program which allows me to select the RAW photos I need and then convert them , after which I can open them in Bridge as dng. Thought it would be a simpler plug in but working it outside of photoshop works great so far.
Thank for your guidance.
Blessings, John .....love that picture...
