Cursor wobble when using Wacom Intuos tablet?
Hello
I would like to elicit a bit of assistance from the experts in this fine community. You see, I seem to have a strange problem with my new Wacom Intuos. Here's a video: Cursor Wobble.avi - YouTube
What I'm doing in that video is holding the pen in a vertical position a few millimeters above the tablet surface and moving it around. Despite the fact that I'm not tilting it at all, the cursor and brush preview wobble around.
Now I know that it's not strictly speaking a PS problem; I tried a trial version of Corel Painter, which also has 3D brushes like this, and it does the same thing there. (and even though I put this thread in the forum section that seemed most appropriate, please move it elsewhere if I put it in the wrong place) But I'm quite inexperienced with tilt-sensitive tablets, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that or not.
So my simple question is this: Is this normal for a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet? Should I just get used to it or should I return the tablet as defective?

I have had the same problem. I usually shut down the bamboo dock, unplug the tablet and plug it back in. Works after that.

It is simply responding to the movement and angle of the pen.

Are you sure? I'm not changing the angle of the pen at all.

Press the pen to the tablet and actually paint with the brush, see if that stops the wobble.

That's not the point, what I'm asking is if it's normal for it to do this while moving the pen around without touching. Do you have an Intuos tablet yourself?

I can't give you an absolute answer for every Intuos tablet, you'd have to talk to Wacom for that, but mine behaves similarly if I just move the pen above the tablet. However, as long as it works properly when actually painting, what it does otherwise is a non-issue for me.

I am communicating with Wacom tech support, but they're not exactly forthcoming with answers. Hence why I'm asking here if it's normal or not. If it doesn't bother you, then good for you. I can't work with it, because I find it far too distracting.

Maybe someone else will comment about their Wacom tablet, but I tend to think it's normal for those brushes. If it is normal behavior you don't have many choices. You can try another brand, or go back to the mouse since you can't work with it that way. Good luck.
