Can't drag elements to move them anymore.

I've been using photoshop for years and in the last month, I can no longer grab an element and drag it to a new place on a layer. I can move it with the arrow keys (which takes forever) or I can turn on free transform and move it, but when I just try to grab and drag the element (any kind of element) it just snaps back to its original position. I'm sure it is something I've done, but I don't know how to undo it. Nothing is checked in the Snap to menu and Snap is also not checked. The layers are not locked in any way I can see. I'm using photoshop CS5 Extended version 12.1 on a Mac Pro with plenty of memory. I've tried restarting and it still does it. Any suggestions?

See if resetting your preferences file helps, it fixes a lot of strange problems in Photoshop.
Start Photoshop and immediately hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
    or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).

Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

    Thanks Steve,
I will try that. After reading through a lot of other forums, I'm beginning to think my problem might be my Wacom tablet. Even though it is new, when I unplug it and restart photoshop the problem goes away. It seems weird that I can't use them together, especially since photoshop is the only application that I actually use the pen for.

You didn't mention the tablet issue.

Try installing the tablet and then reinstalling.

Make sure you have the latest video driver.

If you still have issues go to File|Preference|Performance and UNcheck Enable OpenGL Drawing if it's checked and see if that helps.

I've had the same problem with my CS5.5, and I have a Wacom Intuos XD tablet. Funny - never thought to see if the pen would move it - and it does. Just my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard, 4gb) touchpad won't move it - I get the snap cr&p. At least I can work around it. But it is a periodic problem. It's late in the day and I've been creating a Lightroom 4 slideshow for a class and I have probably used up my resources. I'll reboot.
