    Eraser problem

    Hello, all.

I was working in Photoshop CS2 and I ran into a problem. When I went to use the eraser, it didn't erase anything, instead putting color on what I was working on, like the paintbrush would do. I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out what I did and how to fix it, but to no avail.

    Help?

First, make sure that you are erasing in the right layer.
then, see if there are other layers behind the one you are erasing, because it shows through the erased parts.
Make sure you are erasing with a standard brush ( use pencil or block to be sure)
Finally, are you in quick Mask Mode?

I'm having exactly the same problem with photoshop cs2. Everything went fine until I started experimenting with the repair, clonestamp, and some other things, then when I went back to the eraser, all it did was to add black color to the pictures. I have checked everything you listed, and still is not behaving as it should.
