Hello people!
I haven`t posted any of the topics, wich would be "about help"
Ok. I am doing a web site for a friend, i had never done any of the
Web sites by my self, usualy if people need some help, i will make
a design for them,

but i had never making a buttons and stuff like
that, but it`s not a big deal i had figured it out by my self. I know
how to link, how to make buttons animating

, but! the problem is:
I made this Web Site and ... the two sections wich is "Home" and
"Images" took me with HTML already 1.4 MB ;\ .
Question:
"Of what size, should one page of the Web site be?"
"Is it 1.4MB to much for two links?"
Sorry guys, feels unconfortable about it, but i had anly used
photoshop for creativity until yet"

Hey Sergiy, first of all, nice wirk you have here.
I am not expert but 40 - 50 kb or max 100kb for one page of the Web site should be. You must use slice tool in PS or use ImageReady (prog made for this purpose) make slices -->Save Optimized As...and export in Dreamweaver or what ever prog you use for crating web pages.
1,4 MB is way too much. Hope this was some help.

One way to eliminate the large size of the web page is to use "simple colors" or repeatable textures for your page.

For example, the woodgrain that you are using (which looks great) is what is taking up so much space. You would have to use ImageReady to just extract a thin slice of that woodgrain then have that pattern repeat all the way down the page. Instead of using a large image, you'd only use a small slice of it and just repeat it.

Same goes for your colors on the page. Shadows and highlights look great in photoshop, but when applied to a webpage, they become HUGE. For example, if the grey box you had on the page was one solid color, you could convert it to a slice in imageready and select "no image". Then, when you open the HTML document in Dreamweaver, just fill that empty box with a solid grey color.

Balancing the file size to visual impact is a tough thing to have to do, especially when you want to create a really great website but are limited by bandwidth.

If you want me to give you a hand slicing up your image, I'd be happy to give you a hand.

Neolite is correct. There are many ways to have the look you want but keep the site size down. Never forget the power of CSS. You can code a lot of effects with CSS.

Generally a total page size of 75-85K will load in 10 seconds. Anything that takes over 12 seconds will turn away several visitors. If you are using Dreamweaver it will show you the load time based on download speeds you set. I keep mine at 52K modem speed.
