Re: new site nameS question
What do you mean when you refer to FTP friendly? Sharing all the same Meta Tags is definitely not good - because Google sees it as copy and paste - thus can see sites are linked to one another - which in Google's eyes is link farming.
Obviously with the latest Google Alga-rhythm Change (Panda) they have become very strict with the amount of sites you own and whether they are linked to one-another. And having the same meta tags obviously indicates to them that it is link farming AKA Black Hat SEO AKA no Google Ranking AKA no traffic.

Re: new site nameS question
What is the goal here? If you are thinking that registering those domains and pointing them to your main domain with a 301 redirect will help with SEO, you may want to think again.
The only way those domains are going to get ranking in search engines is if they have their own content. Google won't even index them if you simply point them to your main domain.
Unless you are planning to launch website son all of those, you would probably be better off putting the focus into your own domain and doing some link building and internal SEO on your main site.
If I missed the point let me know

Re: new site nameS question
Another way to increase SE-hits is to keyword each one of your pages on the main site and give them a short description in the meta tags. A bit of work, yes, but iDad will turn up more often in - say - Google. My current web hotel offers this feature as part of their design tool and it has made a difference for me. Also, a blog or a forum will add more indexed pages on the SE as new entries are made. Perhaps not all blogs, but those from Wordpress etc will.
Just don't go overboard with those keywords and descriptions. If you do, Google may even decide to ignore you ...
