Looking for Info for Photoshop/Fireworks and Database Work..

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can give me any info or starting points for the following. I will give some background first so you can understand my need.

My website covers auto racing, specifically drag racing. We have been doing a lot of video coverage. As part of this coverage, I create graphics that show the times of the racers, how fast they are going(elapsed time, mph speed, reaction time), winner, etc. Our site has all of this info in a database as part of our results coverage. It shows each race, the racer's name, their times, etc.

On average, each race has four unique graphics items. I create the graphics and then insert them into the video based on the run. So, when the racer crosses the finish line, the graphic appears showing their time.

I do each of these individually right now. While I have a system and it is fairly smooth, it's still fairly time consuming.

So, I was wondering if there was a way to combine the work in Photoshop or Fireworks with the database. I am thinking if I can have a script in Photoshop make a request to the database to get the info and then automatically populate the fields and export the graphics. I would set up the database a certain way, run the script and when it was done, all of the graphics would be created. The only thing that is changing in these graphics are the driver names and numbers/times(text really). This is all in the database, typed once.

Is this something that is possible somehow? I use Fireworks more, but am not a programmer so I want to at least see what my options are...

Thanks so much!

Could you post your website? Seems like you need some type database interface software if I understand your problem. Did you look at Macromedia's cold fusion? http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/
