    Straight strokes

    1.Select any of the following tools: Airbrush, Paintbrush, Pencil or even the Eraser (!).
    2. Holding down the Shift key and place the cursor where you want your line to begin and click
    3. With Shift still down, click another point on your line
    4. As long as you hold down Shift when you release the mouse button, Photoshop will place a straight stroke between the release point and where you click next.

    Yep, that's something not a lot of folks know to do.

    This method was the first i ever used to create the oh-so-popular "pill button" shape. With grids turned on, and snap-to grid as well, it's very easy to make a pill button shape any length you want.

    that was the very first trick I was taught............ by my son! he he he
    I think he enjoyed teaching mum for a while but it is very hand and I use it all the time
