Better results with the smudge tool

The default settings for the Smudge tool aren't perfect; the smudge tool has the tendancy to move colors instead of smudging them. Often not very useful if you're painting in Photoshop.

This is easy to fix.[list][*]Make sure that the smudge tool is selected[*]Go to the Brushes palette[*]Go to the section Brush Tip Shape[*]Disable the option called Spacing[/list:u]

Better results with the smudge tool

    That's a good tip Joe.

I myself have always turned the spacing down to 1% for ALL my (default) brushes in my standard brush set (which includes several custom brushes too). I just never liked the way they performed with spacing any higher than that.

Thing is... if you want to apply this setting to all your brushes you'll need to reSave them after chaning the setting, then reSave your brush palette also.

But it's worth it i think.
