    Help with GIF !!

Flash is nearly always going to be smaller than animated GIf's because its usually vector based. But for animations like mine that use light and form your only really going to have fairly big files. They have to be bitmaps. Bitmaps can be moved and combined in Flash using the PNG format...

    Tutorial creation software

As far as I'm concerned interface screenshots are only illegal if your releasing them for Beta versions before the application "hits the shelves" - AND you've signed a non-disclosure agreement. I think the discussion on the U2U forums was probably concerning that.

    Deviantart

I hate the loading time on Deviant Art - drives me nuts. The site is a good example of unecessary design over content if you ask me. Pity because theres some good contributions up there

    Help with GIF !!

Actually 64 colors is sometimes more than you need - the most important thing is a smooth transition of tones. Color is an added luxury. Heres another tip ?? ? Show your color table, ??Choose Sort By Popularity from the drop down menu for this pallet ??Hold down your SHIFT key and click...

    Help with GIF !!

All good tips. Its usually easily possible to get to under 100k - the secret can be keeping the image either black & white or nearly monochromatic - but being VERY selective about which colors you choose. Also play with "dither" - and the selective or adaptive palettes to begin with...

    Ctrl+D Problems

    Ctrl+D Problems

Al ? The reason your getting different values for CMYK readings in PS 6 and 7 is nothing to do with your RGB setup. Its got to be the CMYK settings that are different. Make sure the profiles, conversion methods and ink colors are the same in each. It always does an "on the fly" conversion...

    Ctrl+D Problems

A CMYK "black" should never be completely black on all channels ? this is because it would overload the print, an 100,100,100,100 black would be unprintable and cause ink spread and overload. You should be editing always in RGB anyway - its only older guys (pre Photoshop 3 or 4, from a...

how was this done? (face on dog)

Two shots both with the same lighting conditions. Then the eyes and mouth are dropped in - with heavy masking. Color adjustments would also be made so that the two images "fit" together. The most important thing is that the light in both picures has to be coming from the same direction.

    Multi colored clouds?

The best way to think of this is to try and seperate colour from luminosity. Color is the RANGE of hues. luminosity is the brightness of those hues. By seperating your file into LAB mode- you can perform random operations using clouds on either the Colour or Brightness, seperately So the...

    Deleting layers

ah Limey - you should have said you were on a mac before. I've always used macs too but so used to describing PC shortcuts that I always say "control" instead if command now. Nearly always when you see the word "control" or "cntrl" it actually means your command key, which has the delicious...

    Multi colored clouds?

Ferlin!!! whaydya mean "cant spell color right" ??. Rantin and I are from a place slightly North of the country that invented the language :\ :D :D. By the way you'll find that William Blake spelled it that way too. I think Mindbenders suggestion of the Gradient Map is the neatest...

How useful are tuts for older PS versions?

Actually AppleCider is closest on this one? I'm a shortcuts only man too, and set up F key shortcuts for anything else that I want. There have actually been no major changes in built-in keyboard shortcuts at all since version 3 to 4. So all the basic shortcuts (and many of the others) have...

    Deleting layers

Also ??to delete more than one layer at a time; first link all the layers you want to delete, they don't even have to be consecutive layers. Now do as Mark says and hold down Alt (or Option if your on a mac like me) and click the trash icon

    tracing hair

Captain Chickenpants has given you the best answer for this. Channel methods do the same thing (usuallybetter actually) that 3rd pary plugs do. But remember hair at its edges is transparent - so sometimes you need to alter the hair itself to make it 'fit' with the background. One method is...

    Vector drawing in PS7?

No - you can do this in Photoshop too. Use the Freeform pen tool - and set the tolerance quite low. This will make smooth vector lines which you can easily stroke using the Enter key on your numeric keypad.

    "Unsharping" reduces sharpness

hmm ??your radius is too high? - 5 to 7 seems too high for most work. Unless your dealing with 1200 dpi images. Oh yeah - and threshold should always be zero
