Nice Paul but tough choice.
#2 is sharper with a bit more contrast, but this is in the middle of the sea with a sea serpent and wind blowing and mist in the air, #1 captures that better.
Maybe combine the two and selectively bring out some details in #2 but basically use #1.Paul likes this.

Paul, the lighting effects on the dragon's fire in #2 (and the combo) are much better.
I would say add a little orange color into the highlights of the water to show reflection of the dragonfire. Then sharpen up the white lighting on the dragon's head so it's more consistent with the water.

Hey Paul it needs some rainfall over the dragon IMHO to tie it in to the scene. And I think some cannon fire would be awesome. :-)

Paul,
The last one is GREAT! It really blends the dragon well with the pirate-ship picture. It's hard to tell they were separate pix now.
